Oh Thank Heavens!

Early morning in my gardens...
is simply magical.

And while the snow lingers in our Mountains...
all is as it should be down here.

Oh Thank Heavens!

You make it grow.

You send the rain,

I work the hoe."

This is What I Believe... He Lives!

The quiet change taking place within my gardens
are divine testimony
and an inspiration to behold.

Our Snow-capped Mountains in Spring

As every Leaf, Bud and Bloom arise
to join the celebration
and joyously declare...

HE LIVES!

Painted Ladies Migration

  Que the music...
The Painted Ladies are dancin' in my Utah gardens!

Migrating north from their winter in Mexico...
they're on the lookout for pretty flowers.

And our gardens actually have a few.

Sipping nectar from the blossoms gives them energy
on their long flight...

as they make their way across the state,
pollinating the orchards as they dance.

This is the beginning of delicious apricots,
peaches, pears and apples...
Yum!

Think of the delightful conversations
they must have with their fellow pollinators
as they pause to bask in the warmth of the sun.

But just for a minute or two...
and then they're off!
What busy lives they lead.

I think they get a thrill
just dancing through those beautiful blooms...
wouldn't you?

Spring...
every living creature rejoices!

Spring Blooms!

Did you read BLOOM as a noun... "Spring Blooms"
or as a VERB... "Spring Blo-o-o-oms"?
Actually, you could read it either way
but I wrote it
as a verb.

As in... Ta da!
(Drum Roll Please)

Spring has finally arrived!

 Is there any season
that brings such SWEET anticipation?
I don't think so.

In the Fall we plant bulbs deep
in rich garden soil
and wait PATIENTLY throughout the Winter
for the warmth of the golden sun to wake them up.

And when they do...
it's a really BIG deal.
Oh we do get excited when the Tulips bloom.

Springs brings RENEWAL to our gardens...
 every bud and blossom,
every blade of grass
every leaf
is fresh and new.

 This renewal of life
 TOUCHES our SOULS
and reminds us of our Divine Creator.

And we feel very BLESSED...
blessed to live in this place,
blessed to cultivate this earth,
blessed to nurture all
that share our space...
the birds,
the bugs,
the bees.

Isn't it a glorious scene to behold
as the earth AWAKENS?

So glad it's SPRING!

But so mindful that SNOW could still fall
in This Grandmother's Garden.

♥  ♥  ♥

Visit Carol to see more blooms
on this very day
all across this beautiful world.

If I Post It... Will She Come?

The Spring Header is UP!

So, if I post about Spring will she finally come? Hey, it's worth a try don't you think?

Here's a post from last Spring... surely one of my favorites. Enjoy!
(Our Redbuds are actually very tiny and tight as I write this. Sunshine... we need SUNSHINE!)

♥♥♥

Early morning snow in my gardens!

QUICK!

Grab a sweatshirt and run out in your PJ's!

There's MAGIC in the gardens
and it won't last long...

Spring Snow always melts so quickly.

Redbuds in Snow

The Redbuds are waiting patiently for sunshine,
and when it comes,
those tiny little buds will "POP"!

Sweet Reflection

 Can you SEE the magic?

Enchanted Drop of Melted Snow

It's "take my breath away" beautiful!

I told you there was MAGIC in my gardens.

Blooming Requires... PATIENCE

All of Nature is waiting patiently...
but Spring is coming sooo very slowly.

Sensation Lilac

 Buds are tiptoeing cautiously...
Is it going to be SUNNY or SNOWY?
Warm or Cold?

Maple Leaf Babies

Is it safe to come out yet?
I don't think so,

Didn't you hear?
There's more SNOW in the forecast.

Pretty Periwinkle Peeking Out from Snow

Real Blooms!
Contrary to what you may think,
these little buds and blooms will be just fine.

This is Spring in Utah.

Tulips!

Though I do think
they're BRAVE little souls.

Don't you?

Crazy. Absolutley Crazy. May 2013 GBBD

In April, Garden Bloggers Bloom Day began with snow...

Periwinkle Peeking Out from Snow

followed by three straight weeks of low temps well below freezing.

But today on this 15th day of May...
today...
we're having a HEAT wave.

The Hottest temperatures EVER recorded for this time of the year.
 High was 93°F on Monday.

Today only 88°F.

Crazy.
Absolutely CRAZY.

A very late start to our Spring, indeed,
but the SUNSHINE and hot temps of this week
have everything turned up to turbo speed.

Here's a few of the perennials blooming in my gardens
on this May GBBD...

These blooms are survivors.
They sleep during the harshest of winters
then peek out from the soil when the sun warms the earth.
It really is quite amazing.

'Chocolate Chip" Ajuga with Snapdragons soon to POP!

The dainty blue flowers of this Ajuga is a delight
from Spring to early Summer.
Deer resistant and prefers shade with morning sun,
it's hardy but not too invasive.

Do you know my name?
I really have know idea what this bloom is
but I do know that it's a beauty.
Purchased several seasons ago at a clearance sale ... with no tag.
It loves living in my gardens
and happily blooms all throughout the summer.

Update!
Hannah from Weeding on the Wild Side has identified my little beauty... Astrantia
With further research I've discovered it is actually
Astrantia 'Moulin Rouge'.

Sir James Edward Smith (1759-1828), one of the most preeminent British Botanist of the late 17th and early 18th century said this of my beautiful little bloom: “The more refined admirers of Nature” rate Astrantia among their favorite blossoms. The flowers bloom like tiny enchanting fireworks: a starburst of bracts surround the spray of small flowers and splashy groups of buds shoot out from branched stems like the finale on the Fourth of July.

Yes, that describes my little bloom to a tea
and since it surely is a favorite bloom of mine
I will gladly accept the title of
one of "the more refined admirers of Nature".

'Tiny Rubies' Dianthus
Tiny little blooms no more than half an inch
will cover this globe shaped plant through June.
Sweet and delicate, it's one of my favorites.

"Windflowers'
Windflowers belong to the Anemone family...
their tall delicate stems sway in the slightest breeze.
One of my favorite white flowers of my gardens.

And soon to arrive... if the sun decides to stay...

Peony Buds

Peonies will soon begin to unfurl their tight little balls of bud
to become the stars of our perennial garden.

Wait for it...
wait for it...

Iris Bud

Unless the Iris beats them to it!
Oh but there's much more blooming in my gardens...
stay tuned for the Parade of Annuals we're planting
for the BIG celebration coming to my gardens.

Spending all my time in the gardens
sprucing up the old and planting the new...

it's gonna be amazing.

If my tired old bones can keep up the pace.

Grateful for GBBD that brought me in from the gardens
to create this post.  ;)

An Icicle Kind of Morning...

 It's freezing this morning... literally.

This is what happens when the temp is 22°F
and the city turns on the irrigation water for the season.

 Isn't it magical?

Best viewed by tiptoeing out onto the grass...

But be sure to wear your shoes...
cuz it's a little frosty out there.

♦♦♦
Sweet kudos to my daughter
who discovered this marvel as she drove to school
early this morning.

And a badge of honor to me
for braving the cold to take the pics.
So glad I had my shoes on.

Welcome to my gardens...
