Serendipity in Spring

Snowing!!!

Sometimes,
SPRING gets a little confused.

Rebuds in Snow

Perhaps she's so busy painting the pastels
that she doesn't see Old Man Winter rushing in
for a final fling.

Periwinkle taking a Peek

Such a SERENDIPITOUS event,
don't cha think?

Boomerang Lilac with Snowcaps

No worry.
The moisture is always welcome!

Pincushions in Crystal

And the colors peeking through the snow...
simply MAGICAL!

Besides... Winter always enjoys it's last beautiful blast!
And the budding trees and flowers...
always seem to survive.

( This snow storm gathered 3 inches in my gardens yesterday.
Today as I'm posting this, it has all disappeared.
I've learned you gotta grab the camera quick if you want to capture the magic!)

If I Post It... Will She Come?

The Spring Header is UP!

So, if I post about Spring will she finally come? Hey, it's worth a try don't you think?

Here's a post from last Spring... surely one of my favorites. Enjoy!
(Our Redbuds are actually very tiny and tight as I write this. Sunshine... we need SUNSHINE!)

♥♥♥

Early morning snow in my gardens!

QUICK!

Grab a sweatshirt and run out in your PJ's!

There's MAGIC in the gardens
and it won't last long...

Spring Snow always melts so quickly.

Redbuds in Snow

The Redbuds are waiting patiently for sunshine,
and when it comes,
those tiny little buds will "POP"!

Sweet Reflection

 Can you SEE the magic?

Enchanted Drop of Melted Snow

It's "take my breath away" beautiful!

I told you there was MAGIC in my gardens.

Blooming Requires... PATIENCE

All of Nature is waiting patiently...
but Spring is coming sooo very slowly.

Sensation Lilac

 Buds are tiptoeing cautiously...
Is it going to be SUNNY or SNOWY?
Warm or Cold?

Maple Leaf Babies

Is it safe to come out yet?
I don't think so,

Didn't you hear?
There's more SNOW in the forecast.

Pretty Periwinkle Peeking Out from Snow

Real Blooms!
Contrary to what you may think,
these little buds and blooms will be just fine.

This is Spring in Utah.

Tulips!

Though I do think
they're BRAVE little souls.

Don't you?

Bring It On!

View from my window...

Fresh Snow!

Morning delight!

Fluffy Snow!

"The kind you'd quit your job over just to ski in."
or so I heard on the radio.

Perfect Spring Snow!

It will all be gone
once the sun shines though the clouds.

Periwinkle Hiding in Snow

 First sign of Spring!
Bring it on!

Loved the Winter,
but sooo ready for Spring to be here.

Oh Spring... where art thou?

Our Waterfall in Winter...
oops... I mean Spring.

Early morning in my gardens... 22° F... brrrr!

There is fresh snow on my Waterfall!

The sound of running water rippling over the rocks...
heavenly... even in snow!

Lovin' my Waterfall...through every season.

And it will all be melted by tomorrow.

For those of you following my How to Build A Waterfall Series,
sorry for the diversion.
We woke up to fresh snow and I couldn't wait to go out and take pics!
(Imagine me in pj's and slippers... in the snow.)

Stay tuned for the series to continue in our next post, I promise.

Who Dusted the Foothills with Powdered Sugar?

Oh wait, that's snow.

View from my back porch this morning.

Down here the colors are beautiful!

We Interrupt this Saturday for...

Saturday is a work day at our house. It's our get it done day so that on Sunday we can rest and enjoy the fruits of our labor. It's how we roll. This time of year you will find us out working in the gardens, bright and early, at the break of dawn. Saturday mornings in our gardens are magical!

I LOVE the feeling of working hard side by side with my Honeyman.
It is pure joy for me.

I've been dreaming about our project all week long. Today is the day we are going to finish it. Can you feel my exhaleration?  I jumped out of my bed and ran to the window to greet my day.

Oh, no!

Not today!

Not on SATURDAY!

This is what I woke up to...

SNOW in my gardens.

But I've got work to do! (Big sigh.)

In my heart I really do equate garden work with sheer pleasure.
Disappointed doesn't even begin to express how I feel.

I decided to make the most of it and take some pics to feed the blog.

It is quite beautiful out there.

Sorry trusty wheelbarrow... not today.

Looks like I won't be cleaning the fountain either.

The Japanese Maple leaves don't seem to mind the snow.

Nor do the Eastern Redbuds that are about to bloom.
I did NOT Photoshop this blue blue sky.
Amazing! It was the last pic I took and the sun lit up the scene.

Unfurling leaves seem undeterred.

And the mock orange seems to delight in her new "do".

The robins are still singing their morning song.
They're going to miss the entertainment we provide.

The hostas are still doing their thing...

and the tulips are happy for the warm blanket of snow.
(The air is 26°)

 Crazy Beautiful!
The winds that brought the storm got these petals all mixed up.

I look up from my keyboard to see the view from my window...

Oh!
Happy Happy!
JOY JOY!

It's melting, it's melting!

We can work out there after all!
(Groans are heard in the not so far distance.)

Apparently not everyone shares my love of Saturdays in the gardens.

We'll have to work on that.

Blooming Friday Winter

Some time ago I discovered a wonderful Swedish blog Roses and Stuff  by Katarina. I must admit I'm a bit partial to blogs (and bloggers) in Sweden. My youngest son has lived in Sweden for the past year where he is serving a mission for our church. He will be there for another year before he returns home. As you might imagine, I miss this young man more than words can say but I am so happy for the opportunity he has been given to serve in such a beautiful country. Sweden is the land of many of our ancestors and I have been blessed to become familiar with this country and many of its beautiful people by visiting some of the blogs originating there.  Katarina's blog is one of those.

Each Friday Katarina hosts Blommig Fredag
or Blooming Friday.

This week the theme is WINTER

Winter in This Grandmother's Garden

Here's my contribution for Blommig Fredag.

A collection of Winter scenes
as viewed through my camera lens
describing all that's wonderful about Winter!

Now if it just wasn't so cold!

Thank you Katarina for hosting such a delightful meme.

Winter's magic wand adorns everything it touches
with a sense of wonder and beauty.

Winter here is always a playground of fun!

Thanks Daddy

Snow Much Fun!

In our gardens, Winter often comes early...
Early Snow... Leaves on Trees

Coral Bells Ringing

Early Snow Alyssum

And often returns with surprise visits...

Dahlia Caught by the Surprise

Clematis Bud Not Sure if it's times to Open

But there is no doubt that Winter always brings beauty to everything it touches.

Winter's Beauty

Winter... it's a season we celebrate!
