Bloomin' Evergreens

The tender shoots of the Evergreen only come in Spring
and while your eyes may be focused on the bright tulips
and pastel blossoms of the trees...

 the Evergreen "Blooms"
always put on a subtle, yet dazzling display!

Bird's Nest Spruce

English Yew

 Austrian Black Pine

Blue Spruce

Mugho Pine
New growth on a mugho pine is often called a candle. Trimming the candles in Spring just before the needles begin to pop allow you to shape and control the size of your mugho pines.

Notice the Bloomin' Evergreens in your landscape.
It only happens once a year!

  1. Very fun post - your pictures demonstrate how sweet those new candles are. I'm still crossing my fingers to see new leaves budding from my hard-hit laurels this spring. Hopefully not all the growing points froze!

  3. I just love this time of year for the conifers. The fresh new growth is always something to behold. I was just admiring my concolor yesterday for this very reason.

  4. Wow, I love this post! A reminder that sometimes the simple things we take for granted are pretty amazing if we bother to look a little closer. Beautiful shots as always!
