Sunrise in Sweden

The sun is rising in Sweden.

It is the last sunrise my son will see
before he begins his long journey home.

Two years of humble service
for his Savior
as a missionary called of God
to proclaim His holy gospel.

Two years seems like forever to a mother...

so grateful he could go,
so full of joy that it is finally time
to come home.

Tomorrow night...
and I am so excited!

Sunshine in My Soul

The Weather Forecast for my gardens today is

HAZE...       FOG...      RAIN...

and maybe a little SNOW.

What a dreary way to begin
the first full week of December.

 but I choose...

SUNSHINE!

There is Sunshine in my soul today
more glorious and bright
than glows in any earthly sky
for Jesus is my light.

Sometimes life casts dark clouds into our day
but we can always choose to rise above.

As we lift our thoughts we will find the silver lining.

Wishing each of you a little
Sunshine in your Soul today.

Happy Monday!

*Ha! Since I first made this post, the forecast has changed to
Mostly Cloudy according to my little weather widget.
See what uplifting thoughts can do for you? It can change your whole day!
Let's all think lofty thoughts now and see if it will change to Sunny
Now that would be sweet.

Sabbath Morning Sunrise

Faith is knowing the sun will rise,
lighting each new day.

Faith is knowing the Lord will hear
my prayers each time I pray.

Faith is trust in God above;
in Christ who showed the way.
Faith is strengthened;
I feel it grow,
whenever I obey.
*Lyrics composed by Beatrice Goff Jackson

These are the words of a children's song
that filled my soul as I watched in wonder as the sun arose this morning.

What an inspiring Sabbath morning it is!

May you feel the love of your Divine Creator
as you seek to allow Him place in your heart
on this beautiful Sabbath day.

Now Faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen.

Summer Solstice in my UTAH Garden

Summer Solstice...

arrived in This Grandmother's Garden at exactly 5:29 AM this morning.

There was a multitude of melodious birds
jubilantly singing to welcome the new dawn
and the beginning of our Summer.

The sun triumphantly peeked through the canyon door
as small patches of snow still adorn the high mountains.
There is great promise of a beautiful new day and a radiant
Season of Summer.

♦ ♦ ♦

A major celestial event,
the Summer Solstice results in the longest day
and the shortest night of the year.

Sol + stice derives from a combination of Latin words
meaning "sun" + "to stand still."
As the days lengthen, the sun rises higher and higher
until it seems to stand still in the sky.

 ♦ ♦ ♦

Summer Solstice is often called Midsummer
as the farmer's crops were sown weeks ago
and for them it is now mid-season.

The Sun Tunnels,
near the town of Lucin, Utah,
were created by artist Nancy Holt 34 years ago.

"The tunnels — actually simple concrete drain pipes —
are aligned to channel the sun's rays
at precise celestial moments."
