Miracle Monday

Today's Miracle is simply...

                                        WE SURVIVED!

This Grandmothers Garden hosted a gathering of over 200 visitors.  In preparation for the big day, my Honey-man and I pruned trees and bushes, deadheaded flowers and planted a few new plants where some had died. We cleaned out the fountains so the water was sparkling and mowed and mulched the lawn three times during the week. We edged everywhere and pulled the grass that had crept into the flower beds. We vacuumed the patio and washed the chairs and tables and shined the landscape lights.  We sprayed the wasp nest in the swing and set out the bird seed in the feeders.  And we painted the glider instead of throwing it away...our "use, reuse and make do" philosophy.

Everything looked amazing!

The crowds came
and a wonderful time was had by all.

Our gardens survived...
the lawns will perk up after awhile

and our bodies, though moving a bit slowly today, will live to see another day.

Another Miracle Monday.

  1. Wow - I am impressed. We had 28 people on our back lawn for a BBQ on Saturday night. I was a great party even if I say so myself but I can't imagine 200! Likewise - no damage done, in fact the zucchini seemed to like it and gave me my first fruit yesterday!

  2. Oops - meant to say "It was a great party..." not "I" - gee whizz what a reputation I'm giving myself!!!

  3. Wow I am shimmying through your blog clicking all the wrong boxes! Lovely post on the visitors - that feeling that no-one will appear, appreciate or possibly ruin everything - but then it works out beautifully. I

  5. Nothing like having people over to the house to get it all spruced up. Glad you survived because I am sure you were tired.

I don't have a blog post to link to, but our miracle was the rain over the weekend - four inches worth and the heat will subside briefly later this week.

  6. And, they took time, in the middle of their party to rescue my poor stranded daughter. These are the noble and great ones...that's for sure! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I love you for doing that!

  7. Wow, 200 hundred people, I am impressed! sounds as though you had fun. Was it catered? Was everyone outside?

  8. Bless your hearts, Carolyn. That sounds like a major feat -- and yes, a miracle, that not only your survived, but your gardens sparkled through it all. :)

  9. I'm working up to having a garden "do." I feel like the gardens are still a little immature for showing off -- for 20 people let alone 200. Sounds like a lovely day, even with all the preparation and attending to every detail.

  10. Byddi, sprucing up the garden is always a lot of work no matter how many guests you have over. And Happy Zucchini!

Catherine, it did work out beautiful! Thank so much for commenting.

    Joey, thanks for the blessing!

Jeff, I don't think "tired" describes it. "Totally exhausted is a bit more fitting. So happy you recived rain... we need some.

Oh Mamadoo, we didn't do anything extraordinary. You are most welcome and we love you, too!

AfricanAussie, our garden event was a Farewell Open House for neighbors who are moving across the country. Everyone brought their favorite dessert to share and I provided lemon water for all. Yes, it was all outside... with tables and chairs set up throughout the gardens. There was a book for friends to write farewell thoughts and we took pictures of everyone to include in their book. A fun gathering but sad to see them leave us.

Auntie K, thanks for your comment. I guess it was an opportunity to show off my gardens a bit.
